WW1 Soldier memorial plaque heritage walk.

Do you know the story behind your local street names? Local man Gavin Sheehan worked with Takapuna North Community Trust in 2018 to seek funding to have two missing memorial plaques placed on Hart Road in Hauraki and on Northcroft Street in Takapuna to commemorate the soldiers who the streets are named after. There are now a total of eight plaques dedicated to WW1 soldiers in the Hauraki, Takapuna, Milford and Forrest Hill suburbs. Click below to download a brochure for a heritage walk around these eight unique memorial street plaques and find out more about the soldiers who our local streets are named after.
