We live in such a beautiful place and we need to work together to keep it that way. The Takapuna North Community Trust takes great pride in supporting and coordinating local environmental restoration. In July 2019, a pest eradication and environmental restoration plan for Takapuna North was completed by representatives from local volunteer groups and Council representatives. The plan has been named the North Shore Birdsong project and its main aim is to coordinate a local pest free and restoration plan in line with the goals of Pest Free Auckland 2050. The Plan can be viewed HERE.
The Takapuna North Environmental Coordinator, Fiona Martin, is working towards implementing the pest free and restoration plan for the Takapuna North area between Takapuna and Sunnynook. If you're keen to get involved in local pest free and restoration projects, please get in touch with her via firstname.lastname@example.org
Register for a free trap
One of the keys ways in which we can achieve our goal of pest eradication in the local area is by encouraging 1 in 5 households to use pest eradication techniques such as traps on their property. We have a stock of traps that can be provided to the community free of charge to assist with this. If you are keen to help eradicate pests in our area and help bring back native birds such as the Korimako (Bellbird) or Kaka to our area, please apply to receive a trap.
Fill out the form to register to receive a trap on a loan system. The trap is yours to use as long as you are monitoring it and recording your progress on the EcoTrack App.
Environmental Network Meetings and Newsletter
We facilitate and support a quarterly Takapuna North Environmental Network Meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend. The Environmental Network Meeting is an informal meeting with attendees discussing and sharing issues and ideas around environmental protection and pest free programmes. Please sign up to our quarterly environmental newsletter to receive dates about the next meeting and what's happening in your area.
